Set in the year 2159, where the very wealthy live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population resides on a ruined Earth, a man takes on a mission that could bring equality to the polarized worlds…
As any videographer will tell you, taking moving or unbalanced shots can be a real nightmare. Often, while filming a scene, you’ll need handheld rigs, sliders, jibs, Glide-cams, Steadi-cams and tons of other equipment but it looks like all that could change…..for some. Vincent Laforet is bringing the MoVi series of handheld stabilizers to the market and if the video below is any indication of its capability – it’ll be a game changer for sure.
Massimo Carnevale has created some absolutely amazing movie posters and movie art that is not to be missed. Taking moments not traditionally used for movie marketing but classics when remembering specific cinematic favorites, the art is breathtaking – full gallery and source after the break.
What do you do with one of the most iconic movie scenes of all time – you remake it but with a little more style…..with lots and lots of toys.
Never press RM* on a linux machine – that’s the lesson the team at Pixar learned….the hard way. During the making of Toy Story 2, someone pressed the RM* command (directory erase command) which started systematically erasing everything the team had been working on. By the time people figured out what was happening and were able to stop it – about a year’s worth of work had been erased. How did they get the movie back? Check out the video…
Set in the Depression-era Franklin County, Virginia, a bootlegging gang is threatened by authorities who want a cut of their profits…
Transplanted to Mars, a Civil War vet discovers a lush planet inhabited by 12-foot tall barbarians. Finding himself a prisoner of these creatures, he escapes, only to encounter a princess who is in desperate need of a savior….

“In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination…” Trailer after the break.
You like sci-fi? Do you dream of a future with no hope? Do you enjoy oversized plasma rifles or airships powered by small nuclear reactors? How about America in a dystopian, not so distant future? If you’ve answered yes to any of the above questions, Lock-Out is the flick for you. Staring Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace, the plot goes something like this – Watch the first 5 minutes after the break:
A man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. is offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates…
We’re all waiting patiently (not really) for the release of Ridley Scott’s sci-fi epic Prometheus and while it’s still in post-production, Gavin Rothery was nice enough to post some behind the scenes pictures. No aliens were spotted but Charlize Theron looks good and Ridley Scott looks super concentrated on something – making them even more cool is the fact that they’re in black & white. Enjoy after the break…
You’d be hard pressed to find anyone that didn’t like the Lord of the Ring trilogy (even slightly) but what you’ll often run across is the “how the story could have been different” camp. There are countless opinions about how the films differed from the books or how the original story was told. Here is a version that wasn’t in the books nor the movies - guaranteed to make you smile…
Making the Matrix cost millions of dollars and several years but in a genre that is hard to stand out in (sci-fi), it’s in a league of its own – the visuals and storyline are uniquely fresh, especially the infamous ”Lobby Scene.” So, one would think that it would be equally difficult to re-make that scene and still have it equally, if not more, spectacular….enter Matt Mulholland and his A Cappella version….
So, Sony pictures has released the full length trailer to the Total Recall remake – still looks bad. We already talked about how we feel about Sony remaking this Sci-Fi classic but die-hard Hollywood supporters hold true that this new version might hold truer to the original book, thus making it better… For those not familiar with the storyline:
Douglas Quaid is haunted by a recurring dream about a journey to Mars. He hopes to find out more about this dream and buys a holiday at Rekall Inc. where they sell implanted memories. But something goes wrong with the memory implantation and he remembers being a secret agent fighting against the evil Mars administrator Cohaagen. Now the story really begins and it’s a rollercoaster ride until the massive end of the movie…
So there you have it. The remake comes out August 3rd but if you still aren’t convinced that Hollywood is taking less risks and simply making remakes because they’re safer bets - might want to check out this article.
Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane brings his boundary-pushing brand of humor to the big screen for the first time as writer, director and voice star of Ted. Over the last couple of days, there has been serious chatter about “NoMacheteJuggling’s” recent post about how the Star Wars saga should be watched, from Reddit to Frame Rate – the web has been abuzz…..and rightly so. Before we get into NoMacheteJuggling’s argument, let it be said that Episode I, in my opinion, should not be watched or it should be watch as a stand alone movie months after watching the other 5 films. For me, Episode 1 is a catastrophe!
Viewing Order: Let’s start at the beginning. When showing the Star Wars saga to a friend (that hasn’t already seen it) there is an obvious major choice to consider: Do they see it from Episode I through VI (newest movies first and then the old ones) or do they see it episodes IV, V, VI and then I, II and III? Release Order vs. Episode Order?
About This Talk: Peter Weyland has been a magnet for controversy since he announced his intent to build the first convincingly humanoid robotic system by the end of the decade. Whether challenging the ethical boundaries of medicine with nanotechnology or going toe to toe with the Vatican itself on the issue of gene-therapy sterilization, Sir Peter prides himself on his motto, “If we can, we must.” After a three year media blackout, Weyland has finally emerged to reveal where he’s heading next. Wherever that may be, we will most certainly want to follow.
About The Speaker: Sir Peter Weyland was born in Mumbai, India at the turn of the Millennium. The progeny of two brilliant parents; His mother, an Oxford Educated Professor of Comparative Mythology, his father, a self-taught software Engineer, it was clear from an early age that Sir Peter’s capabilities would only be eclipsed by his ambition to realize them. By the age of fourteen, he had already registered a dozen patents in a wide range of fields from biotech to robotics, but it would be his dynamic break-throughs in generating synthetic atmosphere above the polar ice cap that gained him worldwide recognition and spawned an empire.
In less than a decade, Weyland Corporation became a worldwide leader in emerging technologies and launched the first privatized industrial mission to leave the planet Earth. “There are other worlds than this one,” Sir Peter boldly declared, “And if there is no air to breathe, we will simply have to make it.”
Ok, so this is why the above video (BTW great performance byGuy Pearce) is so bad ass – this is the only real tie-in between Ridley Scott’s upcoming epic sci-fi Prometheus film and his sci-fi masterpiece Alien saga. Below, you can find the trailer for the upcoming Prometheus film – looks amazing.
UPDATE: Secrets of Prometheus Film Leaked. Below is a YouTube video (Link Provided by User: Carl Friman – Thanks Dude) that claims to explain more about what Prometheus is about – plot points and story line info. Even thought the actual video claims that it is not a spoiler – I consider the info (if true or not) to be spoiler material. Be warned!
