Not impressed by Intel/Apple’s thunderbolt port on the new MacBook Pros, Verizon can fix that! The HTC Thunderbolt 4G is now available through Big Red and brings all that good 4G goodness along for the ride. What makes the Thunderbolt so sexy, how about: LTE connectivity, a 4.3-inch touch screen (480×800 WVGA display) packed in aluminum body and features a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 8MP camera with dual-LED flash and 720p video recording and 802.11n WiFi also is also included.

Verizon is offering the Thunderbolt for $249.99 with a two year contract but looking around the net, Amazon or Costco will have a much better deal – as always. HTC’s next gen hardware looks solid but I have one major sticking point with the display, 480×800 WVGA is kind of a slap in the face for a piece of hardware like the Thunderbolt.

You know the drill – the Super Bowl is watched by those that love football and those that watch for the commercials. 106.5 Million people watched the game or watched the TV during the time the game was played – each 30 second spot cost about $3 million bucks, so you’d expect some good stuff. This years game wasn’t memorable in terms of commercials but there were some tech adverts that stood out – not because they were good but because they were un-imaginative.

Above you see the full Motorola Xoom Tablet commercial, one that was leaked before game day and one that many said – drew parallels to Apple’s mythical 1984 ad. Yea, there were obvious comparisons and Motorola did its best to make sure people understood that Apple had turned into the very thing it was fighting (IBM) back in 1984 but it didn’t work – not even close.

You see, Apple’s 1984 commercial worked partly because…..it was 1984 and there were essentially no consumer electronic companies (except Sony)  - Apple was fighting against Big Blue and their corporate dominance. It was the little guy against the giant corporation. Motorola is essentially making the same mistake Microsoft made with their WP7 commercials – they’re calling their desired customers sheep and stupid. I’m not a marketing expert but this technique is not going to work. Best Buy’s comercial is equally as un-imaginative and follows the classic: “Get celebrities, make them act stupid, try to be current, confuse!” Money well wasted! NEXT!!

Amazingly unnecessary. Let me dock up my phone to this screen and keyboard to make a computer or I could just use my computer. Why do companies have to come up with stupid gimmicks? Just make a crazy kool phone that can last all day on one charge – have a great screen – app store – voice quality – “network” – build quality – UI and system software.

Well, the city by the bay just got a little snappier! Sprint announced today that it has flipped that magical 4G switch and has blanketed Frisco with that yummy 4G goodness.
