There you have it folks – Apple is to hold an iPad 3 event on March 7th in San Francisco. This news is coming from tech websites 9To5Mac and The Verge. If you want to set your calendars and reminders or if you wanna go and stand outside, it’s at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco at 10 a.m. PST. This goes along with the news that we covered earlier today about the CNBC tweet, all except Apple holding the event in NYC but if we are to beleive CNBC’s specs:
If Apple can pull this package together and keep the current iPad 2 price point – this is a killer tablet. If Apple does the unthinkable and keeps the iPad 2 at a lower price point ($399) – Samsung, HTC, Motorola and the lot are in for some serious trouble. By the way, releasing this news on the same day Eric Schmidt gave his speech at MWC in Barcelona is the ultimate “kick in the nutz.”
CNBC is tweeting this morning the alleged specs of the iPad 3 and the location of the Apple event that it will be unveiled. As you can read from the official tweet below, the tablet will have a retina display (like the iPhone 4/4S) or HD, a quad-core processor (A6 or modified A5) LTE connectivity (defaults to 3G) and will be shown off at a NYC Apple event. If Apple can pull those specs off and keep the price at $499 – take my money now! If Apple can pull off those specs and keep the price point at $499 and continue to sell the iPad 2 for $399 or lower – god help the competition.
Apple’s Thursday (January 19th) scheduled NYC event didn’t garner much enthusiasm, mainly because we had heard that there wouldn’t be any new hardware shown at the event. Rumors were pointing to a media event based on Apple’s desire to get into the textbook business, with the majority of people invited being in the publishing business.
Now the chatter we’re hearing is that Apple will unveil a framework for publishers, helping them build interactive e-books for schools – something like “Garage band for e-books”. Up until now, publishers have been frustrated by the lack of support and inovation in the industry – furthermore, schools have also been frustrated at having such great hardware (ipad) but nothing of relevance to teach kids with.
If Apple was to release, either an app or framework tools for publishers, we could see the textbook industry go through a complete revolution – all of which would be great news for Apple and its iPad business. Two days away….

Facebook announced that they would be holding an event on the 18th of January in San Francisco, specifically at Twenty-Five Lust (Restaurant). Other than the invitation above, nothing else is known or rumored about the event……seriously, nothing else is known.

Like clockwork, the Apple Store has been taken down, ahead of the rumored iPad 2 event this morning. Apple’s San Francisco event starts at 10am (PST) and shortly after it concludes, we should be able to see what goodies have been added the big A’s store front. Rumored: iPad 2, free-expanded version of mobileMe and iOS 5 – should be interesting. While it is unclear if Apple will live stream the event but if they do, it will be posted on Apple.com.

Apple has started sending out invites for a March 2nd event in San Francisco and from the image above – it’s all about the ipad 2. We knew this was coming, we just didn’t have a date and from the ridiculous amount of rumors over the last two weeks, there were even chances of a release push back. Now that we now when, we still need the specs and……whom is going to host the event? My guess is that Jobs will not be there and that the iPad 2 will come in wifi – 3G – CDMA flavors with storage starting at 16GB. If they can hit a $499 price point – lights out Android. NEXT!
Get out your wallets, book your tickets and get ready to stand in line because rumor has it that Apple’s having an iPad 2 preview event next week. What could this event tell us, well the rumors so far hint at the same resolution display, front/back cameras, 720p video recording, 1.2 Ghz A5 chip Dual core, larger speaker, new iOS, NFC, face time, mini display port and possible dual core graphics. It’ll need to be able to hang with the tabalanche of slates coming out and those specs sound about right. When can this possible event happen, how about Feb. 13! NEXT!!

Google has scheduled an event for the 2nd of February concerning Android 3.0 Honeycomb at their Mountain View campus. While the specifics aren’t know, word is that Honeycomb will be more deeply demoed – possibly on new hardware like the Xoom. Personally, I believe this to be PR control, as there is growing concerns that Android 3.0 is not ready for tablet and main stream release. What is your guess? NEXT!!
