“If you build it, they will come.” Apple released the iPad 2 to the world on Friday and by limiting pre-orders, has generated lines at many of its retail locations – was this premeditated by Jobs & Company for the line-less Verizon iPhone 4 launch? Regardless, the faithful and non-believing lined up early Friday for their slice of the slate. Many organizations are already predicting 600,000+ ipad 2 sales just for this weekend, Apple’s stock price…..up 4.82 as of this article.
And in a ridiculously genius move by Apple, their mysterious SXSW (South By South-West) temporary store, has lines already forming. (Picture above) When combined with the other 2 Apple locations in Austin, Texas - Apple might just rocket past that 600,000 unit mark. HP, releasing that TouchPad this summer might just be the best idea yet.
UPDATE: Apple iPad 2 orders have slipped to 2-3 weeks for shipping.

“Corporate Meeting!” Yea right Apple! 9to5 Mac via Applebitch.com has pointed out that the Moscone Center has just updated its events scheduale and would you look at what is booked for the 5th of June to the 9th – apparently one long “Corporate Meeting.”
Apple usually holds its WWDC event during the beginning of June, so this woud fall into the yearly time frame. WWDC deals with all tings Apple Mobile – so “possibly” a new iPhone and changes to itunes, the App Store and anything dealing with the cloud – Apple, we’re still waiting for that North Carolina data center to go live. Anyway, book your hotel rooms and flights – it’s going to be packed. NEXT!!

Android goes OTA! Google unveiled their Android web client today and while it had a bit of a rough start, things are at least working for me in terms of OTAs. Browsing the whole Android catalog is a lot easier now and this can be achieved from any device with access to the web – buying apps is equally easy with the addition to OTA downloads.
Having multiple devices is no problem as you can name/tag separate hardware so the client knows where to send the app. In addition to the rollout of this web client, Android will also adopt a in-app payment system – following Apple’s lead. Let’s see how this thing pans out – multiple bugs are being reported but that is expected with any new rollout. NEXT!!

Every time Apple.com goes down, everyone freaks out and this time was no different but while we were all ready for a “White iPhone” update, no such luck. From my quick glances, all I could find were cosmetic changes to the overall site with the addition of darker colors and “bouncy” transitions. Did you find anything? NEXT!!

Just about a month and we are starting to see the outcome from Apple’s Mac App Store – First up…Pixelmator. Oh and would you look at this, they just so happen to be announcing some details today: $1 Million in revenue in just 20 days! How do they feel about this you might ask:
“Such an amazing success feels fantastic. Thank you so much for your enthusiastic support.”
You’re welcome and I say that as a Pixelmator owner. So what can we learn from all this? Release an app that is relative bug free, does a task and does it well and has a beautiful UI. Pixelmator is a stunningly beautiful app that really is in the category of apps well above it’s $29 price and that is the major key – strike a balance between price and service. NEXT!!
